When Andy wanted to play Tribes, he couldn’t find anything that scratched the same skiing itch he once had. Tribes’ frictionless movement had stayed with him, but he wanted a way to master the movement and measure his progress without having to survive firefights against players with decades of practice. The answer was to build the game he wanted to play. RIDGERUNNERS takes that love of skiing and combines it with movement ideas from other favourite games, giving players a toolkit built around control, speed, and maintaining momentum. The idea spent several years in Andy’s head before he began building it in Godot.
